Currently, most Bitcoin mining equipment is made by Chinese manufacturers.
1. Bitmain (Chinese name: Bitmain)
Bitmain is the industry leader in Bitcoin mining machines, best known for its "Antminer" brand.
Bitmain was founded in 2013 by Micree Zhan and Jihan Wu. The two focused on developing specialized ASICs for Bitcoin mining. Bitmain has since grown into the most successful company in the Bitcoin mining industry.
The Antminer series manufactured by Bitmain has been highly praised for its high performance and efficiency. In particular, the Antminer S9 and its successors, the S15 and S19 Pro, were considered the most powerful Bitcoin mining machines at the time of their release. The S19 Pro uses 7nm process technology and achieves a hash rate of 110TH/s.
Bitmain has a large market share and therefore has a large number of engineers who can repair the hashboards, which are core components of mining machines, so repairs can be carried out quickly.
However, it is known that at one time, there was a serious conflict between the founders of Bitmain regarding management policies. (We were also troubled by the high defect rate of some of the mining machines we purchased during the time when the founders were at odds.) As a result, Micree Zhan was expelled from the company for a time. The founders later reconciled and returned to Bitmain's management team.
2. MicroBT (Divine Horse)
MicroBT is a Chinese Bitcoin mining hardware manufacturer whose most well-known product is the "Whatsminer" series. MicroBT is a relatively new company, founded in 2016. It was founded by Dr. Yang Zuoxing, who was formerly in charge of chip design at Bitmain, after leaving Bitmain. Dr. Yang made significant contributions to the development of the Antminer S7 and S9 at Bitmain before founding his own company.
In a short time, MicroBT has established a significant presence in the Bitcoin mining market, with its Whatsminer M20 series and subsequent M30 series offering high hash rates and efficiency, and earning a reputation for competing with Bitmain's Antminer.
Because Whatsminer devices have fewer malfunctions, we often consider adopting Whatsminer rather than Antminer when making investments in our company recently. We are also recommending Whatsminer to our customers more and more.
However, in 2019, Dr. Yang was reportedly sued by Bitmain, the industry's largest company, for patent infringement and was temporarily arrested, intensifying the rivalry with the largest company.
